Joint Initiative

Joint Initiative
Chamber/Economic Authority/Community Cooperation

During 2018, a Synergy Enhancement proposal between the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and the Glasgow-Barren County Industrial Development Economic Authority (Barren County Economic Authority) was introduced.

Purpose:  To improve coordination of activities, and more effectively harness the resources of the Glasgow Barren County Chamber of Commerce (GBCCC), and the Barren County Economic Authority (BCEA), in a manner that promotes a common vision for our community.

Scope:  Includes the efforts of boards, committees and individuals of GBCCC, Cave City Chamber of Commerce, BCEA, City & County Officials, Individuals and Civic Groups in Barren County; their respective resources, funding and perceptions.

Expected Results:  Noticeable improvements to the promotion of our community.  More involvement from the community at all levels.  New resources and funding opportunities identified.

Joining together for the launching of this 2018 Joint Initiative are area individuals Billy Carver, Bob Cary, Seaborn Elzey, Gary Hartell, Corey Jackson, Jim Lee, Ernie Myers, David Peterson, Melinda Reynolds, Nancy Seymour, Jackie Brown along with the Mayor of Glasgow and the Barren County Judge-Executive.

As 2019 unfolds, specific topics under consideration by Joint Initiative Members include:

  • Ways & means for improving the first impression of our Communities, including but not limited to identifying areas and coordination with local utility companies and other agencies and groups for possible “clean-up” efforts.
  • Developing a strategy(ies) to lure retail and restaurants into Barren County, including reviewing alternatives for seeking community analysis.
